The main purpose of the Process Control Engineer is to maintain the Process Control Systems, Process Control to IT interface, and Process Control Governance of the Bryan, TX manufacturing plant. This position will be responsible for ensuring that the production process and related equipment are running reliably and effectively from a process control perspective. Duties of this position include monitoring equipment and process parameters, planning upgrades and maintenance, and developing and implementing changes that improve operational reliability. This position will report to the Site Engineering Manager and is not limited to the listed responsibilities and may include other duties as assigned.



  • Ensure the safe operation of the Bryan Manufacturing Plant through Process Control Systems
  • Ensure compliance and enforcement of company, safety, environmental, governmental policies and regulations as they apply.
  • Assure sound engineering and validation principles are applied to process design
  • Develop and maintain site Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) policy and procedures
  • Evaluate Safety Integrity Level (SIL) of new and existing equipment to ensure performance
  • Perform Probability of Failure on Demand (PFD) calculations in support of Process Hazard Analyses (PHA’s) and projects
  • Support project and revalidation PHA’s as a consultant on both Process Controls and PFD

  Process Controls:

  • Lead continuous improvement projects to solve operational opportunities, improve/maintain process safety, and improve/maintain quality control standards
  • Manage site Rockwell Automation support contracts
  • Develop process control strategies, standard, policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and drawings that detail the interface between the process control and information technology networks
  • Provide process control programming and troubleshooting support as needed
  • Identify and train resources on process control improvements
  • Support industrial information technology network improvements and performance
  • Utilize SAP PM for work orders

Projects/Management of Change (MOC):

  • Manage continuous improvement and capital projects
  • Develop functional descriptions for projects enabling better upfront design
  • Implementation, testing, and support for instrumentation calibrations and configurations
  • Subject matter expert reviewer for MOC’s pertinent to process controls
  • Initiate and lead MOC’s pertinent to process controls
  • Provide technical expertise in support of capital projects, process evaluation, and project modifications.
  • Develop/manage process improvement projects


Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge and understating of network architecture, especially related to security and firewalls – ability to effectively communicate with IT group
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to use basic and intermediate mathematical computations and problem solving
  • Computer network skills, setting up virtual machines on servers preferred
  • Ability to work independently, with little supervision, in a dynamic, fast paced environment and ability to prioritize multiple urgent activities
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to review and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company policies and procedures

Preferred Skills & Competencies:

  • Project Management
  • Ability to lead or provide strong contributions to Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
  • Knowledge of process design methods such as ISA and UL
  • Ability to use SAP PM

Required Education & Experience:

  • BS in Engineering or an industry-related field of specialization
  • University level coursework in Automation and Control Engineering Technology
  • Minimum of five years’ experience as a Process Control Engineer
  • DCS/PLC/HMI programming and product knowledge
  • Experience creating and reading logic and flow diagrams for program design, programming, simulation, and start-up
  • Experience in manufacturing with a background in automation, robotics, PLC’s, SCADA, and electrical systems

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Knowledge of and experience with Rockwell Automation
  • Experience with a Process Information Management (PIM) System
  • Experience in configuration, programming, testing, and debugging of robots and robotic systems
  • Experience with providing technical support and troubleshooting services for robotic systems
